A photograph is as much an act of interpretation as it is an artifact.
...all images are interpreted within the context of social beliefs. Since all photographs represent a paradoxical mix of information and persuasion, a condemnation of propaganda as being intrinsically evil is based on a misunderstanding of the nature of communication.
