 Photography is inherently occult, a medium contacting the dead without contagion. 
 [Photography] has a penchant for the lurid, the atrocious and the pornographic. These are facts of the medium open for exploration. 
 Photography is a medium that simultaneously enables the lurid and the immortal, a medium through which I may come to believe that my pain and that depicted are disparate.
